Pharmacy Minor Ailments Scheme
All patients registered to a GP in County Durham and Darlington and who are eligible for free prescriptions
(either with a current exemption or with a pre-payment certificate) can now access a new scheme provided by all
community Pharmacies. If you have any of the following ailments you can now go straight to your local pharmacy
and obtain your medications free without having to see a Doctor first and obtaining a prescription. We encourage
all of our patients to utilise this service and free up some of our appointments.
Conditions and treatments currently available:
Allergic Rhinitis (Hay fever) – Cetirizine soluble and tablets, Chlorphenamine Soluble and tablets, Beclomethasone
nasal spray
Pain and Fever(sore throat, earache, teething)
Paracetamol tabs 32, Paracetamol Susp SF 120mg/5ml, 250mg/5mg, Ibuprofen 200mg tabs 24 and Ibuprofen
Suspension.
Nasal congestion
Menthol and eucalyptus
Thrush(not oral)
Clotrimazole pessary 500mg, cream and Fluconazole
Athletes foot
Clotrimazole cream 1%
Contact dermatitis
Hydrocortisone cream
Headlice
Dimeticone solution, Malathion aqu. Liquid
Threadworms
Mebendazole tab, Piperazine oral powder
Indigestion
Peptac and Co-Magaldrox
Diarrhoea
Dioralyte & Loperamide
Constipation
Senna tabs
Exclusions – Pregnant or breastfeeding

Out of Hours Contact Number
There is now a new number for patients to contact when the surgery is closed. The number is 0300 111 0111 Staff Training
We would like to advise all of our patients that staff training sessions will be taking place on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 1pm -6pm, when the surgery will be closed. During this time we kindly ask that you contact the out of hour’s service on the above number. Our first session will be on Wednesday March 24th. Privacy at the Reception Counter
If you wish to talk to the receptionist in private and do not wish to be overheard please ask to use the side Please also try to use the self check in facility where possible to avoid queues at the reception desk. The Eden Centre, Coundon pre-bookable appointments
For our Patients registered at the Coundon Surgery you can now pre book doctor appointments up to two weeks in advance. The first two appointments of every day and the last two appointments on a Friday are available for pre- booking. Please contact Coundon surgery on 0844 477 8915 New Staff
