Medical Society of Delaware has joined the Delaware Healthcare Association and Delaware Department of Health and Social Services in supporting the Gift of Life Donor Program’s Statewide Donor Designation Campaign – a targeted effort to register an additional 28,000 organ and tissue donors in Delaware by end of April 2013. The campaign promotes the online donor registry onWatch for more information from MSD as to how your practice can participate in this important campaign. The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) has issued a health alert to provide health care providers and facilities with details regarding additional contaminated medical products identified in the ongoing Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigation associated with the fungal meningitis outbreak. The CDC is reporting that product testing has identified bacterial contamination with several bacterial and fungal organisms in unopened vials of Betamethasone, Triamcinolone, and Cardioplegia solution that were distributed and later recalled by NECC on October 6, 2012. It is unknown whether facilities in Delaware received the lots of contaminated Betamethasone, Triamcinolone or Cardioplegia solution. For more detailed information to include recommendations visit With only a few days remaining until January 1, Congress has yet to work toward stopping the 26.5 percent cut in Medicare physician payments required under the SGR formula. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced it will not delay processing Medicare Claims. Claims will be processed for physician services provided after December 31, 2012 under the normal fourteen (14) day cycle required by law, and physicians will see an immediate reduction of 26.5 percent in payment for their services beginning January 1, 2013. DHSS/DMAP 2012 Annual Online Provider Disclosure Ending In January 2012, all health care professionals were required to submit an online Provider Disclosure Statement through the DMAP website. Those who have failed to submit the online form for 2012 will be terminated December 31, 2012. Current physician medical licenses in Delaware are set to expire as of March 31, 2013.
