1) CALL TO ORDER BY CHAIRMAN

A regular meeting of the East Granby Parks & Recreation Commission was held on Thursday, September 6, 2007. Members present when Chairman Kurt Larsen called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. were Rosalie McKenney, Jay Brady, Betty Waterman, Patrick Gill and Jim Gothers. Commission member Karen
2) DISCUSSION WITH PUBLIC

Representatives from the 150th Anniversary Committee (Donald Sedor, Kyle Spears and Lara Danilla)
addressed the commission regarding the upcoming town celebration in June 2008. Please see the attached which highlights the issues discussed. Town resident Nathan Calan addressed the commission regarding a possible Eagle Scout project to be done at Cowles Park. He has suggested removing the old cars in Cowles Park and planting shrubs/flowers and spreading wood chips in various areas of the park.
3) AMENDMENT OF/ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES:
A motion was made by Rosalie McKenney and seconded by Patrick Gill to accept the minutes of the June 7, 2007 meeting. The votes in favor were unanimous. Motion carried.
4) CORRESPONDENCE

A letter from the East Granby 150th Committee to formally request the use of East Granby Farms from
June 2nd to June 10th 2008 for the celebration.
A thank you note from Bob & Dottie Planske for the “Hot Fun in the Summer” picnic held in August.

4) Granbrook Park – Jay Brady has suggested that the suggested tree work to be done at the
park go out to bid and once bids are received a decision will be made as to who gets 5) East Granby Farms & Building Committee Update – Rosalie McKenney reported the
following: 1) the new dugouts at the baseball field have been installed; 2) the company contracted to do the logging at the park has been behind on both the work and payments; 3) the Building Committee has met and received 2 bids for the remaining work on the 4 Season Building and Sears house. The Building Committee will be meeting with Custom Interiors, LLC of Winsted which was one of the bidders to discuss the work. 8) NEW BUSINESS – Kurt Larsen stated that he was contacted by Tim Granger over the summer
regarding starting an Eagle Scout project of trees and landscaping at East Granby Farms. Tim had requested approximately $600-$700 from the commission for the trees and landscaping. A motion was made by Jay Brady and seconded by Patrick Gill not to exceed $700 for trees and landscaping at East Granby Farms for the Eagle Scout project by Tim Granger. The votes in favor were unanimous. Motion carried. 9) ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Rosalie McKenney and seconded by Jay Brady to adjourn the meeting at 8:30
p.m. The votes in favor were unanimous. Motion carried.
